The Idea behind 'PUBLIC TV' came from quite an old school piece of technology really. The idea of 'PUBLIC TV' is based on web cams and how they work. Web cameras and have been around for about a decade now and how they work is that you can see and speak to someone via your computer if you both have one. 'PUBLIC TV' is largely based on this concept but instead of it being one to one with someone you know it would be everyone to everyone. The TV channel would let you log on (this means that if someone fancied talking to you and you accepted there invite to talk you then YOU would see each other via your television and talk) and be up for viewing if you wanted. People from across the world could log on and you could easily talk to people across the world about anything. If they decided to use a portable TV then they could take you to see the sights of wherever they live, i.e. someone in New York could be talking to someone in Paris or someone in Hull could be talking to somone in Sydney and they could take you round the sights. It's not necessarily that you would ever visit the place where the person lives due to a number of reasons such as you didn't even know it existed, or just never plan to visit it however much you can or cannot aford to travel plus just that you may not be able to aford it but just for a few hours via 'PUBLIC TV' it gives you the opportunity to experience it. You could also use it like a web cam and talk to friends or family or even work colleagues or Uni Tutors about your work etc if necessary. You could also have TV's set up like phone boothes in public places such as pubs or clubs or in the Town Centre etc and you could make calls home from these and talk to whoever is waiting at the other end for you. The possibilities are endless and also extremely exciting. I personally think this idea is extremely exciting and think it is a genuinely strong idea that could actually work.
